WIESENHOF

Think ecologically, act responsibly, cultivate open communication

That is the philosophy of the subsidiaries and partner companies working for WIESENHOF. The almost 50-year success story of the WIESENHOF brand began in 1964.

In the course of this time, a diverse branded poultry range has developed from the “WIESENHOF chicken”:

Almost every second chicken slaughtered in Germany comes from WIESENHOF. The range encompasses quality poultry from conventional deep litter barns as well as organic chicken from ecological breeding sources. In addition, the range includes turkey and duck specialities as fresh and frozen poultry as well as convenience products and poultry sausage products.

At WIESENHOF there is uninterrupted scrutiny: the quality and safety concepts guarantee the highest quality and the best taste. All production stages – from parent flocks to the logistics chain – are handled in-house and entirely in Germany (5-D quality).

WIESENHOF is the leading brand on the German poultry market today

The high quality and guaranteed German origin of the products have made the company and the WIESENHOF brand Germany’s No. 1 poultry brand.

Besides its consistent focus on quality, WIESENHOF also participates actively in environmental protection. Here are a few examples:

  • In February 2002 WIESENHOF launched its organic chickens from ecological husbandry onto the market.
  • Since 2008 WIESENHOF has used a marketing company to put the roof areas of its farms and operating plants into service in alternative energy production. More than 8,000 square kilometres of space has already been fitted with photovoltaic modules. This enables WIESENHOF to reduce CO2 emissions by 8,000 tonnes per annum.
  • In March 2010 WIESENHOF was the first company in the poultry branch to have the greenhouse gas emissions produced in the manufacture of chicken meat calculated and certified. This data will serve as a basis for further improvement of the emission balance over the next few years.
  • In August 2011, WIESENHOF presented its new “Privathof chicken” to the public. “Privathof” poultry represents an entirely new approach to conventional poultry breeding and husbandry, whereby particular emphasis is placed on the well-being of the animals. This concept is based on certified animal protection standards which go well beyond the statutory requirements. Together with scientists from the Institute for Animal Protection, Husbandry and Hygiene at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and experts from animal protection organisations, the PHW Group worked on this alternative approach for over a year.
